Cunningham Civil and Marine is a privately-owned family run business run by Eoghan Cunningham and is headquartered on the Lodge Road just on the outskirts of Westport in County Mayo.
We place safety at the core of our business. We earned a Safe-T-Cert in March 2017 and renewed it in 2018 in which we received an ‘A Rating’ with an IOSH letter of recommendation and provide regular training programmes both internally and externally to our team to ensure that all staff are kept up to date with health and safety legislation and best practice and to ensure that all staff are safety compliant.
Cunningham Civil and Marine Ltd are now proud to be certified to the following international standards; ISO 14001:2015, ISO9001:2015 and BS:OHSAS 18001:2007. Our certifications reflect our commitment to the Health, Safety Welfare and Quality of all aspects of our business.
Cunningham Civil and Marine have worked with many high profile clients including multinational corporations and government agencies on local and national level. We have completed several state funded civil and marine projects including storm repair works on various piers around the coast and the neighbouring islands of Ireland.
We offer many services including marine and civil construction with design and build options, wet and dry batch mobile batching plants for off shore works, we have a licensed landfill facility that can accept construction waste in the Westport and Connacht region. We offer a full range of groundworks and plant hire services, our fleet ranges from tipper trucks, grab wagons, excavators wheeled and tracked from .5 ton to 35 ton with or without rock breakers. We also have in our fleet a range of articulated trucks, a road suction sweeper, tracked bulldozer, dump trucks, site dumpers, concrete pumps, telescopic handlers. We can also offer crane hire both tracked and wheeled.
We have the capability to supply ready mixed concrete through our sister company ‘Eoghan’s Mini Mix’ which was established back in 2000. At Eoghan’s Mini Mix we can supply all grades of ready mix concrete and ready mix mortar to all areas both on-land and offshore and have supplied several islands off the west and south coasts over the past number of years.

2018 – Kish Bank Lighthouse, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin

We carried out repairs and refurbishment of Kish Bank Lighthouse 10km off the coast of Dun Laoghaire in the Irish Sea. The work involved navigating to the access point with specialist equipment and carrying out the work in the middle of the Irish Sea which is renowned for being unforgiving and subject
2018 – Ballyboden, Dublin

We carried out groundworks for our client – Coffey Construction in Ballyboden, South Dublin.
2017 – Dublin Port, Dublin

We carried out groundworks for the extension of Dublin Port which also involves lengthening the berth and deepening the navigation channel to allow for bigger vessels to enter the port. Our client for this project is L&M Keating
2017 – Inishboffin, Co. Galway

We carried out road upgrades on the island. The island is situated off the coast of Connemara in County Galway in the west of Ireland. Our client for this project was Galway Co. Council
2017 – Clare Island, Co. Mayo

We carried out the re-routing of ESB main cable to Clare Island, this work included using underwater concrete. The team had to re-position the main underwater cable which had shifted during a storm, for this we had to use an underwater diving team to trench and re-position the main cable and pump in underwater concrete. As you could imagine the conditions for this job was very challenging and a high level of skill and expertise was required. Our Client for this project was P&D Lydon / ESB
2016 – Cape Clear Island, Co. Cork

We carried out groundworks and formworks, concrete batching on the island which is situated approximately 8 miles off the Southwest coast of Cork. Our client for this project was – L&M Keating
2016 – County Mayo

We carried out the removal and destruction of Japanese Knotweed throughout various parts of the county. We are licensed to collect the weed and have a licensed landfill site just outside of Westport which is permitted to accept Japanese Knotweed and other controlled waste. Our clients for this work were Mayo Co. Council and the HSE
2015 – Inishboffin Island, Co. Galway

We carried out storm damaged upgrading works and concrete form works on the West end of the island. Inishboffin is situated off the coast of Connemara, Co. Galway in the west of Ireland. On this project we used a Dry Batch mixing plant in which we mixed 4,000 cubic metres of ready mixed concrete. Our client for this project was P&D Lydon / Galway Co. Council
2014 – Clare Island & Inishturk, Co. Mayo

We carried out storm damage repairs and upgrade work to slipways on the islands. The islands are located off the coast of Co. Mayo in the Atlantic Ocean. Our client for these projects was Mayo Co. Council
2013 – Inish Oirr, Aran Islands, Co. Galway

We carried out new slipway and pier improvements following storm erosion on the island which is one of the Aran Islands off the coast of Galway in the Atlantic Ocean. Our client for this project was L&M Keating for Galway Co. Council
2012 – Clare Island, Co. Mayo.

We carried out pier enhancement work on the island which is located just off the coast of County Mayo in the Atlantic Ocean. Our client for this project was Mayo Co. Council.
2011 – County Mayo

We worked on various main thoroughfares throughout the county carrying out repairs and upgrades. Our client for these projects was Michael O’Malley Tarmacadam.
2010 – Great Western Greenway, Co. Mayo

We carried out construction and groundworks for The Great Western Greenway which runs 42km from Achill Island to Westport. Our client for this project was Mayo Co. Council
2009 – Inishturk, Co. Mayo

We carried out pier improvements at Purtoon Harbour on the Island of Inishturk just off the coast of Co.Mayo in the Atlantic Ocean. Our client for this project was Mayo Co. Council.
2008 – Inishlyre Island, Co. Mayo

This project involved pier enhancement works on the island which is located off the coast of Co. Mayo in the west of Ireland. Our client for this project was Mayo Co. Council
